Alison Peters, a woman who has always followed the rules, finds her life in disarray as she navigates a legal career while working at a grocery store. In need of money, she decides to rent out her basement on MiCasaSuCasa.com and receives an inquiry from James Brewer, who reveals that he is recently separated from his wife. Meanwhile, Alison and her friend Sarah face harassment from their boss, Brandon, at work. When Brandon is found murdered, Alison becomes a suspect in the eyes of the police. As a romantic connection develops between Alison and James, more individuals in her circle start to vanish.
