The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil

“The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” is a season of the reality TV series produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, known as The Ultimate Fighter. This particular season was notable for being the first to be entirely filmed outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, taking place in Brazil instead. It comprised 12 episodes and concluded with a live finale in Brazil, which was broadcast on pay-per-view in June 2012. Filming began in February 2012, and the show was produced in Portuguese by the Brazilian production company Floresta. In Brazil, it aired on Globo, while each episode was also streamed online at TUF.tv every Sunday night and later shown on Fuel TV in a marathon leading up to the finale.

On December 13, 2011, during a pre-UFC 142 press conference, Dana White revealed that Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva would serve as the season’s coaches. Notably, Belfort went on to fight and defeat Anthony Johnson at UFC 142, breaking from the tradition where coaches typically did not compete against other fighters until they faced each other at the end of the season.

The UFC conducted open tryouts on December 14, 2011, seeking Lightweight and Middleweight fighters who were at least 21 years old and had a minimum of two wins in three professional fights. Out of the applicants, 350 fighters were invited to participate in the tryouts. The season featured fighters from the Featherweight and Middleweight divisions.
