Kagome Higurashi is a contemporary teenager residing with her family near the historic Higure shrine. Unaware of her true identity, Kagome is actually the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo and holds the “Jewel of Four Souls” (the Shikon jewel) within her. On an unfortunate day, she discovers an old well close to her home and is suddenly whisked away through it to a demon-filled feudal Japan. In this ancient world, she meets Inuyasha, the offspring of a formidable demon father and a human mother, who is immobilized against a tree by a magical arrow.
