Freddy’s Nightmares
“Freddy’s Nightmares” is an American horror anthology television series that aired in syndication from October 1988 to March 1990. It is a spin-off of the “Nightmare on Elm Street” film series, with each episode introduced by the infamous Freddy Krueger. The show’s format is similar to that of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Tales from the Crypt,” and “The Twilight Zone.” The pilot episode, directed by Tobe Hooper, starts with Freddy Krueger being acquitted of child murder charges because the arresting officer failed to read him his Miranda rights. Eventually, a group of parents traps Freddy in a power plant, where he is set on fire by the officer, leading to his iconic appearance.
The series was produced by New Line Television, the same company behind the film series, and was initially distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures. Later, Warner Bros. Television took over the syndication rights after acquiring Lorimar-Telepictures.
