Desperate Housewives
“Desperate Housewives” is an American TV series blending comedy, drama, and mystery, created by Marc Cherry and produced by ABC Studios and Cherry Productions. It was broadcast on ABC from October 3, 2004, to May 13, 2012, airing on Sundays at 9 P.M. Eastern/8 P.M. Central. Marc Cherry, the executive producer, also served as the showrunner, with Bob Daily, George W. Perkins, John Pardee, Joey Murphy, David Grossman, and Larry Shaw joining as executive producers from the fourth season onward.
The series is set on Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview, located in the made-up Eagle State. It chronicles the lives of a group of women through the perspective of a deceased neighbor who took her own life in the first episode. Spanning thirteen years over eight seasons, the narrative covers the periods from 2004–2008 and later 2013–2017. The women navigate domestic challenges and family dynamics while uncovering the secrets, crimes, and mysteries lurking behind the façades of their seemingly idyllic suburban neighborhood.
The ensemble cast is led by Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. Brenda Strong provides the narration as the late Mary Alice Young, occasionally appearing in flashbacks or dream sequences.
