
Asia’s Next Top Model
Asia’s Next Top Model is a reality TV series within the Top Model Franchise, where numerous women vie for the title of Asia’s Next Top Model and an opportunity to launch their modeling careers. The show features aspiring models from across the Far East, including the South Asian subcontinent.
Originally slated to debut in mid-2012 on Ice-TV, the show came about after a deal with CBS to create a Pan-Asian version. Casting began on March 28, 2012, and was initially set to conclude on May 5, but the deadline was later extended to May 21. The production took place in Singapore.
On April 11, it was announced that Nadya Hutagalung would serve as the Head Judge and Host of the series. Joining her as judges were Fashion Director Daniel Boey, Fashion Photographer Todd Anthony Tyler, and model Joey Mead King. In early October, STAR World and Channel 8 unveiled the 14 finalists for the first season, representing 13 countries from South, Southeast, and East Asia. The show was initially planned to premiere on November 4, 2012, but the global premiere on STAR World was delayed to November 25 due to financial issues. The winner of the inaugural cycle was 27-year-old Jessica Amornkuldilok from Thailand.
