In 1963, the United States government initiated a secretive space expedition, dispatching a large group of men, women, and children on a hundred-year journey aboard the starship Ascension with the goal of colonizing a distant planet. As they near the halfway mark, almost 50 years into their voyage, the enigmatic murder of a young woman prompts the ship’s inhabitants to reevaluate the real purpose of their mission.
