In the year 2138, virtual reality gaming is thriving. A well-loved online game called Yggdrasil is unexpectedly shut down. Yet, one player, Momonga, chooses to remain logged in. As a result, he is transformed into a skeleton, embodying “the most powerful wizard.” The game world evolves, with non-player characters (NPCs) starting to experience emotions. With no family, friends, or societal ties, the otherwise ordinary young man, Momonga, sets out to dominate the new world that the game has become. Overlord: The Undead King, also known as Overlord: Fushisha no Ō, is an anime compilation of the Overlord series, encompassing episodes one through seven.
