Mumon: The Land of Stealth
Set in the 16th century, Mumon (played by Satoshi Ohno from the idol group Arashi) is a laid-back mercenary raised amidst the feuding Iga ninja clans. When the ninja council decides to challenge the young Nobukatsu Oda, who is struggling to fill his father’s shoes as a warlord and expand his dominion, Mumon eagerly joins the conflict. His motivation is to fulfill the demands of his new wife, Okuni (portrayed by Satomi Ishihara from Shin Godzilla and Attack on Titan), who expects him to deliver on his promises of wealth. However, Mumon soon discovers that there are more important things to fight for than just money or allegiance to a nation. Renowned for his quirky dramas, Yoshihiro Nakamura (known for Fish Story and Golden Slumber) brings his unique style to this jidaigeki epic, complete with a lively soundtrack and imaginative ninja antics. -JAPAN CUTS: Festival of New Japanese Film
