Flowers Of Evil
In the summer of 2015, turmoil erupts in eastern Helsinki when a Finnish family man is admitted to the hospital. Groups of youths ignite chaos by setting fire to cars and public buildings, clashing with security personnel and riot police. The film’s narrative unfolds in reverse, leading up to the climactic riots. At the story’s outset, tensions simmer beneath the surface, poised to erupt at any moment. Acts of vandalism and theft are frequent in the suburbs, as is aggression towards law enforcement and security staff. Frustration, alienation, isolation, and poverty eat away at the fabric of this otherwise relatively harmonious multicultural society.
