When James Downey comes back to Newfoundland for his mother’s funeral, he is confronted with the unresolved family problems he believed he had escaped. He had transformed his struggles with an abusive father into a career as a police officer, but his cousin Danny’s childhood trauma has spiraled into a life of drugs, crime, and violence. James is forced to face his painful history, determine his true identity, and address his cousin’s situation before it’s too late.
